Jacoby Jones, Former NFL Wide Receiver, Has Died

The Baltimore Ravens Legend, 40, Was Known for His Explosive Play

Jones Was a Key Player in the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII Victory

Jacoby Jones, the former NFL wide receiver who helped the Baltimore Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII with the longest play in the game's history, has died at the age of 40, the team announced Sunday.

Jones, who also scored two touchdowns in the Ravens' Super Bowl victory, was a fan favorite in Baltimore and known for his explosive play.

"Jacoby was a beloved member of our Ravens family and we are deeply saddened by his passing," Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in a statement. "He was a tremendous player and an even better person, and he will be dearly missed."

Jones was a first-round draft pick of the Tennessee Titans in 2007 and played for six different NFL teams during his career. Jones spent the final three seasons of his career with the Ravens, where he helped the team win its second Super Bowl title in 2013.

Jones retired from the NFL in 2015 and has since worked as a coach and commentator.

In addition to his Super Bowl victory, Jones was also named to the Pro Bowl three times and was a member of the All-Pro team once.

Jones' death is a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing the time we have with our loved ones.
