The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month in the lunar calendar. This cultural celebration commemorates the life of the ancient poet Qu Yuan, who is believed to have drowned himself in the Miluo River to protest against the corruption of the government. To honor his memory, people throw sticky rice dumplings, known as zongzi, into the river.
